About the Author

Maurice B. Pears, MC, graduated from the Royal Military College Duntroon (RMC) in December 1950. He served with the 1st Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, as a reinforcement before being posted to the 3rd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment and the 1st Commonwealth Division Battle School in Korea and Japan. He is a former Commanding Officer of the Corps of Staff Cadets, RMC, and the 1st Pacific Islands Regiment.

In 1970 he resigned from the Army to assume a managerial appointment with CRA, Bougainville Copper Limited, in Papua New Guinea. Since his return to Australia in 1980 he has been active with business interests and as a consultant in Papua New Guinea and elsewhere overseas.

He has compiled and edited the two volumes of the history of the Pacific Islands Regiment (written by J. Sinclair), Korea Remembered and other publications related to the casino gaming industry. He retains interests in a number of business activities including an international website and now resides on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
